The Neighsayers - 1st July Weekend NAPS
Lingfield - 8:45 6f Handicap
Not a bad little race for a Class 6, with one of the previous weeks Eye-Catchers being the horse I will be siding with here. SPIRIT OF BREEZE looks a nice bet his at odds of 7/2, after a very decent run LTO on the AW. Travelled strongly in rear, tender handling through horses but ran on very well into 4th. the 1st and 2nd that day were all prominent so he did very well to overcome a slight pace bias. He looked like the step up in trip would be perfect for him running a +4.12 finishing % LTO and he gets that step up tomorrow. drawn in 3 isn't the best but I expect him to be dropped in and ridden for luck anyway so its not too much of a hinderance.
Plenty of pace on here with 2/3 of the runners normally opting to prominent tactics, giving the ideal race set up for SPIRIT OF BREEZE. 1 slight worry on my mind is that he was pulled out at Bath earlier on in the week due to the going, so providing the ground isn't too quick at Lingfield, he should be going very close.
Selection - Spirit Of Breeze Win 7/2
Newmarket - 3:00 1m handicap
A race that’s filled with 3 year olds, apart from ONE MORNING, the sold 4 year old in the field and that’s where I’m looking for my NAP of the day. She does have to give weight away to the 3 year old’s, but I think she could comfortably do that as she’ll be much more set in her frame, compared to the still growing 3YO’s.
There’s no much pace in this race, apart from the outsider of the lot Rising Bay so I’m hoping that he can take them a long at a nice enough pace before his effort simmers away. ONE MORNING would probably prefer the going a bit softer however she has gone well on soft ground and well, your guess is as good as mine as to what the track will ride like here.
I’m not certain Royal Charter is that well handicapped so I’m happy to take the favourite on. Dora Milaje is one that was probably better value for her win last time showing a nice turn of foot to get herself involved from last.
ONE MORNING’s comeback run at Ascot was more than promising considering the race was lost at the start being very very slowly away and nearly shipping Saffie out the side door. If she gets away cleanly today she should be very close at the finish.
Selection - One Morning win 7/2
Doncaster - 6:55 6F Maiden
This looks a weak enough maiden for a newcomer to take this, and OPERATION GIMCRACK, the 160,000gns purchase looks good enough on pedigree to take this.
From a yard known to have some strong 2yo over recent seasons, OPERATION GIMCRACK is by Showcasing, a horse also useful at 2. The Dam was also a 2yo winner and is related to some smart sprinters.
Selection - Operation Gimcrack win 7/2
Two of the lads are not fit for purpose this morning but the naps for those two are;
Above The Curve 11/4
Al Aasy 3/1
