The Neighsayers - May 3rd Tips from Ascot and Pontefract

Wednesday May 3rd Tips

A short blog for 4 horses what I think are value at the prices available at the time of writing. If your wanting shorter price horses to back this probably isn’t the blog for you as I’m generally looking for horses with form what looks more like a telephone number, in the anticipation that they will bounce back to form when key variables fall in their favour. I recommended you take all bets EW as they are all suitable prices to do so. Hopefully the selections run accordingly and keep up The Neighsayers great early season form! Enjoy.

1:30 Ascot 1m Handicap

Competitive handicap to kick of the days racing at Ascot, 15 declared so likely to get a well-run race here. Roger Varians Yaanaas will be the fav on his turf debut based off 2 very good wins on the AW, he could be anything, But I’m going to take him on with the roughie of the field who’s been priced up at an insulting 50/1. KEYSER SOZE won this race off 87 in 2021 and hasn’t seen the turf since that season. He has raced on the AW for the last 2 years winning 1 race in the process. He started showing signs of quirkiness, but first-time blinkers perked him up enough to take out a Kempton handicap in late January, blinkers return on Wednesday. He returns to turf 2lb lower than his AW mark and 5lb lower than his win in this race 2 years ago. Faster the ground the better for him so the drying ground will help his chances, all Beit he has ran well with cut under foot as well. Quite abit of pace on in here so would like to see him held up and played late. Obviously, he is vulnerable to younger legs, but he can’t go unbacked at 50s, id have him half that price.

5:00 Ascot 5f Handicap

A 5f sprint handicap will finish the card at Ascot on Wednesday and I’m very happy to see that BEYOND EQUAL drops to a stiff 5f track what favours held up horses. I’m very shocked that he hasn’t ran at Ascot before a I believe this track will pay massively to his strengths and running style. Hes a very strong traveller who loves passing horses from held up positions, he caught my eye many of times last year and he also did LTO, where he travelled with his usual enthusiasm but was put into the race far too late. Hes a tricky horse to get to win but the assistance of Oisin Murphy will help that, and I’m expecting a very good run at a track what will play to his strengths massively. Hes now 8lb below his last winning mark and Hes ready to strike. Play EW as he will more than likely run into a place at worst.

2:50 Pontefract 1m2f Handicap

Back up north for a horse what made the Eyecatchers blog from his previous run, Ex Aiden O’Brian trained MYTHICAL is a great bet at his opening price of 14/1. Had wind problems for the whole of last year but a wind op seemed to do the trick as he was a very eye-catching 5th at Ripon, running on under tender riding. He was slightly outpaced so I like that he has found his way to a very stiff track like Pontefract, a track where he can use his proven stamina to run down weaker finishers. He has dropped from a mark of 97 to 71 since joining Simon Whitaker, clearly highlighting this horse is significantly well handicapped if putting his best foot forward. Really like him in this race and I can see him running very well with track configurations playing to his strengths. Market support should be taken seriously.

5:10 Pontefract 1m Handicap

A weak race on the whole what makes me like a case for another large price horse, Mr Strutter caught the eye last time out and should go close here but I fancy FRANKELIO more due to his early price of 14/1, what I think is great value in a race of this nature. He is a C&D winner off a significantly higher mark and has also ran very good races at the Yorkshire venue, going close on serval occasions. His run LTO was much better than his finishing position of 10th suggested and signified there is races to be won with the now 8yr old, travelled very well on ground what looked to not suit his action, but then didn’t find as much as anticipated on heavy ground. From the paddock and from his run he will have come on bundles for that run and should be cherry ripe for his 2nd race of the season. He will run off 44 (including jockey claim) what is a joke on his previous form. I could see him going very well from a career low mark. Market support would be significant from this yard.
