The Neighsayers - Aintree Festival Tips
Thursday 1:45-Manifesto Novices Chase 2m4f
I’ll very much be on weather watch here for Joseph O’Brien’s BANBRIDGE, with connections wanting to wait until as late as possible to make their decision I’m at risk of putting up a non runner here.
But if the rain doesn’t get into the ground too much and they take their chance then I believe he will be very hard to beat. Stage Star pinched the turners for me and I don’t think he’ll get as much rope as he did on the front end last time out. I would have BANDRIDGE’s second in the Irish Arkle as the best piece of form on offer in this race and he’ll also be coming here a fresher horse.
Saint Roi also ran the Irish Arkle but unseated too early to know how he’d have faired before finishing a distant third in the Arkle behind El Fabiolo. I’m not convinced about him stepping up in trip and I see BANBRIDGE outstaying him.
Selection - BANBRIDGE
7/4 William Hill - 13/8 General
Friday 2:55 - Top Novices Hurdle 2m
I don’t think this is a very deep race for a grade 1 so I’m going to take a chance and forgive LUCCIA. Prior to her lacklustre run at the festival she looked to be a really good prospect hence being sent off the 6/4 fav.
There were rumours in the build up to Cheltenham that she’d had some problems since the Exeter run that had caused her to miss some work. Henderson has since admitted this was the case, which could have been the cause of her underperforming.
The opposition doesn’t look brilliant here with the 9/4 fav Found A Fifty getting collared late on by a 3 miler in Corbetts Cross last time out. In The Pocket has some fair form with a 2nd at the DRF to Il Etait Temps and then a solid 4th in the supreme to Marine Nationale, but could struggle to give 7lbs to LUCCIA if she is firing on all cylinders.
Selection - LUCCIA
9/2 Bet365 - 4/1 General
Friday 3:30 - Marsh Chase 2m 4f
Another sub-standard grade 1 here and I’m going to take FRENCH DYNAMITE to reverse the Thurles form with Fakir Doudaries.
He has been some what frustrating to follow this season often making bad jumping errors when travelling well. Last time out in the Ryanair was probably he best round of jumping he has produced this season and as a result was still very much in contention after jumping the second last before getting outstayed up the hill.
The flatter track at Aintree will play to his strengths and another decent round of jumping will see him go close in my opinion. Although this was outlined as the main target for Fakir Doudaries this season I believe he’s now on the decline and FRENCH DYNAMITE can improve past him. I think 10/1 3 places on offer with Sky Bet is very generous and can see him going off a touch shorter on the day.
Selection - FRENCH DYNAMITE(EACH WAY)
10/1 (3 Places) Sky Bet
