The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 23rd - 29th September 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 23 rd  – 29 th  September 2024   23 rd  September – 7:30 Wolverhampton    Breccia   Come from miles back here off a muddling pace, was stuck behind a horse who was getting eased off at a crucial stage, should have won imo and should be kept on side over staying trips   25 th  September – 6:00 Kempton    Nuptown Girl    Missed break and was slow into stride, green in rear and was always niggled slightly, race had already developed infront of her but she did run on well under tender handling. Will know much more next time out and could improve further for 7f+   27 th  September  - 8:00 Wolverhampton    Bay Of Naples    Hasn’t won for a while but his run here showed enough to me that he could be winning very soon. Raced pretty fresh here after 1 month off the track, raced handy and just got abit tired late on, will come on bundles for this. 17th October at Southwell f...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 16th - 22nd September 2024

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 16 th  – 22 nd  September 2024    17 th  September – 2:25 Punchestown    Land Of The Giants   Really liked this, travelled wide into the race and made a fair move on the outside but green when asked and stayed on one paced. Will do better nto and would be a bet in maidens, may improve for 8f also   17 th  September – 2:55 Punchestown    Pillar Of Hope   In rear going well, switched inside into traffic, got a run and ran on under hands and heels. This is ready to win, and I will be following over 8-10f   22 nd  September – 5:00 Listowel    Bayrann    Bumper horse who is abit flighty but has ability, didn’t get any sort of pace to aim at here, moved past horses pretty easily and will be winning bumpers this season. Will get a price

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 9th-15th September 2024

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 9 th  – 15 th  September 2024   11 th  September – 4:28 Carlisle    Krissy    Held up in the rear, never in the race but did good closing figs from off the pace, clocked the best final furlong sectional in the race and has much more to give, this will be a decent horse in time, 80+ and should be backed in Maidens at lesser tracks and into handicaps.   14 th  September – 5:50 Musselburgh    Strike Rate   Held up in rear at pace favouring track, came with a big run but no run on the rail, stayed on moderately. Hes learning to race more efficiently now and he looks to be handicapped to win off his current mark. Can race in much lesser grades than he did today, and ill be following him over 10-12f.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. So will be going in with Beatrice Shilling here. Without getting all cliche, she was doing her best work late at Salisbury and prove she stayed the trip,...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 2nd - 8th Sep 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 2nd - 8th  September 2024     2 nd  September – 5:30 Windsor    Sea Founder    Nice physical, stepped forward from debut massively and the gelding operation certainly worked, never in a position to challenge and was hands and heels to the line, stayed on strongly, Will have learnt plenty and should be a bet next time out in a suitable race. Looks a 3yo type to me and should be followed next year also.   6 th  September – 5:55 Kempton    Navid    Bred to want a trip, ran okay here without being knocked about, looks ever inch a next year project for a team who do well with this type. Keep onside once going into handicaps up in trip.

The Neighsayers - Sunday 8th September

Quiet few days again, lack lustre racing even for a Saturday but back today with one at York. Wanted to wait to watch the first before posting to see how the ground looked and it looks soft enough. 15:25 York - Apiarist Made the York review blog as the main highlight in a 100k heritage handicap and drops markedly in grade here with conditions even more so in his favour. Was keen at the Ebor meeting but Eaves returns on board and he knows this horse well and hope he can get him to settle. He was in stall 18 at that meeting and only 2 horses that finished in the top 10 were drawn double figures and he was held up in rear when 2 of the 3 that finished in front of him were prominent and another in midfield, so in my opinion was majorly disadvantaged. In terms of this race, Markoon doesn’t have any soft ground in his family and by Kingman he should want it much quicker. Old Cock would be the danger here, Calyx’s seem to like soft ground and has the pivotal influence further back in the...

The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
